She enjoyed her bridge club of which she was a member for 50 years. Dr. Caldwell passed away November 29. 1995. She was born near Bucklin, MO, on October 18, 1911, to Oscar M. and Irene (Moore) Switzer.

She and Miller Carpenter were married August 18, 1947, in Harmony, MN, and he preceded her in death on March 4, 1992. Vena attended Warren Grade School and graduated from Bucklin High School and Central Methodist College at Fayette, MO. She taught school at Warren; second grade at Bucklin and Marceline; and four years in Junior High at Marceline. She claimed her pupils as her children. At an early age she joined Switzer Chapel Church and later became a member of Rothville Baptist Church.

She taught adult Sunday School there for a number of years and was active in Training Union, WMU, and Vacation Bible School. When she lived in Carrollton, she was a member of AAUW and later was a member of Taylor Golden Rule Extension Club at Sumner. She was Vice President of the Bank of Rothville and was a teller for many years. She is survived by son and daughterin-law, Frederick and Kathy Carpenter, Sumner, MO; and daughter and son-inlaw, Martha and Russell Smith, Overland Park, KS. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Hilary Carpenter, Chicago, IL, Billie Kansas City, MO, and Richard Carpenter, Columbia, MO; sister-in-law, Edna Switzer, Macon, MO; and nieces and nephews, Carol Switzer, Nanette Cash, Evangeline Casady, William Carpenter, James H.

Robert Melson Barton died in Newport Beach, CA, on December 12, 2005, after a long battle, with Pro(gressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP), akin to Parkinson's disease. He was born in Jacksonville, FL, April 4, 1922. His parents were James Ives Barton and Annie Dent Melson. He graduated from Southwest High School in Kansas City, University of Kansas, and Michigan Law School (with honors).

Among the entities were those of Michigan Law Review, Head Waiter in the dining hall, his college fraternity Phi Kappa Psi (President), the California Committee of Bar Examiners (Presi-dent), Junior Barristers (President). He was a director of many small corporations and a few large ones, notably Financial Federation, Financial Corporation of America, Statham Instruments, Jacobs Engineering, all NYSE corporations. He later left the law firm of O'Melveny Myers to set out on his own. Later he was senior partner of Barton Klugman Oetting. He leaves his wife, Helen, and sons, Robert Jr.

(Janine), and Lawrence (Sandra); and two grandchildren. Tyler and Mackenzie. Personal interests included travel, golf, tennis, and fishing. At his request no memorial service will be held. He was a good sport and was devoted to his family.

BRYAN EARL BEYER Bryan Earl Beyer was born August 21, 1986 and died from an accidental head wound at his home December 11, 2005. Bryan graduated from SMN High School in 2005 and was attending JCCC and working part time at Sears Automotive. He received his Black Belt in Karate in 2000 and was awarded his Eagle Scout in 2004 from Troop 184. Bryan was an accomplished chess player, an automotive enthusiast and was an excellent wood craftsman. Fred was united in marriage on May 6, 1943, to Catherine Shookner who survives of the home. Mr. Chatlos was a service manager in the automotive field, a U.S.

Army Air Force Veteran of WWII, and served in Guam. He was a member of the VFW and worked as a reserve police officer in North Kansas City from 1967-1969 and retired as Lieutenant. After their marriage they lived in the Topeka area for a short time before making their home in Paola, Kansas. John worked for Southwestern Bell before being employed at several construction companies. While living in Paola, John worked at CarrothersPemco Construction Company for many years. He also worked in Dallas, Texas for a short-time with Amwest Bonding Company. For the last five years, John has been employed at W.H.

Debrick Company as their office manager. John was an avid fisherman and enjoyed the many trips his group would take to Canada. He also enjoyed hunting, golf, watching high school sports, and taxidermy. He is preceded in death by his parents, Palmer and Mildred, and one brother, Fred Forslund. He taught Vocational Agriculture for two years at Russellville, MO. He was the District Geologist for the MO State Highway Dept. for 34 years. He was a member of the Lee's Summit United Methodist Church for 50 years. He is survived by his wife, Marjorie; a son, Larry Jay Jenkins and wife, Betty, of Katy, TX; and two daughters, Linda J.

Cox and husband, Rev. Steve Cox, and Deborah J. Schulte and husband, Bert, all of Columbia, MO. (SPIEK) JUDY GOMER JENKINS, JR. Loretta J. (Spiek) Judy, 75, Kansas City, Missouri, formerly of Faucett, Missouri, away Sunday, December 11, 2005, at Garden Valley Nursing Home in Kansas City, Missouri. Loretta was born in St. Joseph, Missouri, March 2, 1930, to Joe and Johanna Spiek.

She was a graduate of Faucett, Missouri, High School. Loretta retired from Prudential Insurance Company after twenty years, and North Kansas City Hospital, after fifteen years. She married Ace Judy on May 15, 1954, in Kansas City, Missouri. He passed away January 24, 2003. She was also preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Henry and Eddie Spiek and one sister, Frances Downing.

Loretta is survived by one brother, Clarence Spiek, St. Joseph, MO; five sisters, Patricia Whitley, St. Joseph, MO, Josephine Studer, Kansas City, MO, Gertrude Dale, Independence, MO, Clara Gillespie, Holden, MO and Margaret Carney, Clinton, MO; and several nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial: 12:00 Noon Wednesday at Horigan Chapel, St. Joseph, Missouri.

Mama Jo and her husband, Dan Kennaley (Papa Dan) were married on June 11, 1927. They resided in Dodge City, Wichita, KS, and St. Louis, MO, and spent the last 50 years, of the 74 years together, in Overland Park, KS. She earned her college certificate in Art from Columbia University in New York City and taught art in the K.C. Public Schools before getting married.

She always worked as a homemaker. She was a very busy person always being involved in altar societies, sewing groups, art exhibits, great books, many church and school activities, etc. Mrs. Kennaley, Cure' of Ars Parish was selected by the Program Committee of the National CCD Office to serve as secretary for a Parent-Educator meeting at the Inter-American CCD Congress in Pittsburgh, PA, in September 1966. Appointed by the Archbishop of the KCK Archdiocese.

She was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters, and leaves behind twin sistor and brother, Jerry and Toy (our aunt and uncle). She is survived by son, Dan Kennaley, Ill, and wife, Kitty; daughter, Caroline Fox, both in the KC area; 14 grandchildren and 34 greatgrandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Marty Metz, Bob, Jim, Dan IV, Bill, Pat, and Mike Kennaley (Mama Jo's grandsons). Sue was born December 1, 1934, in Kansas City, MO, to parents Harry and Corinne Bucher. She grew up in the heart of Westport attending Rollins Grade School and graduated from Loretto Academy. Sue married the love of her life, Carl Lawson, a Kansas City Fire Firefighter, who held the key to her heart for 41 years.

Professionally, Sue was a clerk for the Honorable Harry Whitney, Jackson County Magistrate Judge and investigator for the Jackson County Prosecu-. tor's Office under Ralph Martin. Sue's favorite job was at the Raytown License Bureau, where for eight years she and her sister, Dutch accomplished the extraordinary task of mixing fun and laughter with renewing your license plates. Always active in politics, Sue served as the Democratic Committeewoman of the 24th Ward and Missouri delegate to the Democratic National Convention. Sue's talents were many and enjoyed by all.

She could dazzle the ivories with the best of them, entertaining family and friends at every occasion. Equally as memorable, was her quick wit and lively sense of humor. Always the life of the party, Sue's magnetic personality brought laughter and love to all that knew her. In her quiet time, Sue loved reading a good book or spending the afternoon at the movies with Carl. Most of all, Sue loved and appreciated her family.

She will be missed dearly by her family and friends and each of us cherish the memories that' will last us a lifetime. Sue was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Corinne Bucher; sister, Alta Bucher; brother, Robert Bucher; and son, Mike Zahnter. Sue was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great sister, and aunt and is survived by her adoring husband, Carl R. Lowe, 54, an administrative assistant at Wilkie Farr and Gallagher, passed away on De-. cember 8, 2005 at Jefferson Memorial Hospital. She was born in Sabetha, Kansas to Charles and Lucille Sextro and moved to Kansas City, Kansas shortly there after. Judy married Paul Lowe and had two children, Anthony and Nicholas Lowe. In 1979 she and her family moved to Washington, D.C.

Judy was loved and adored by everyone who was fortunate enough to meet her. This inconceivable loss is devastating to all who knew her. She has done so much for so many people, never expecting anything in return. Judy's horse farm and horses gave her great pleasure and tranquillity. Judy was a devoted wife and mother who was not only loved by her family, but by, everyone she came in contact with.
